KET

 Key English Test (KET)

The first level of Cambridge University English Examinations is the KET. This exam validates an elementary level of English and represents the first step on the way to level two, the Preliminary English Test (PET).

The exam consists of three parts:

  • Reading and Writing (1hour 10mins)

Candidates must be able to answer questions about a text or an authentic article extract such as directions, announcements, adverts, timetables, the weather forecast, or a letter / email.

  • Listening (30 minutes)

Candidates must follow a short conversation and extract specific information.

  • Speaking (8 – 10 minutes)

Candidates are tested in pairs by 2 examiners.

They need to answer questions about themselves and talk with each other, using documents to help them such as a shopping list, menu, and directions.

The teachers have tested the pupils in class and in the mock exams and will decide if your child is ready or not to take the KET exam. However, should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Helen THIRTLE LEOTARD (Head of the Languages Department).
