UNICEF Montpellier: VISIT AND SERVICE AS ACTION AT EPBI WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE MYP PROGRAMME IN INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIETIES

Date: Tuesday 23rd November 2021 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm

Action: UNICEF / The Frimousses Project

Following the video conference held on Thursday 14th October 2021, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Mrs. Aggie CHEVIN, a volunteer from UNICEF Montpellier to EPBI on Tuesday 23rd November 2021 in order to lead an activity for the “Frimousses Project”.

This educational “Frimousses Project” is based on solidarity which allows students to discover the situation of less fortunate children around the world, children’s rights and to take action for UNICEF.

Within the framework of the IB MYP 1, “Individuals and Societies” programme with their teacher Novadene MILLER, and within the PYP 4/5 Unit Plan of “How we Express Ourselves” with Carole ROSSI CUVILLIER and Damaris SCHROTH, along with Helen THIRTLE-LEOTARD, the IB Projects Coordinator, each student will contribute, thanks to their individual creative talent, to help children of the world!

“La Frimousse” is an adorable ragdoll made of cloth, created by UNICEF. Each student will have one and will create a personalized look for their ragdoll with recycled material. Each ragdoll represents a child in the world and will be given their own name, their own identity. The students will commit to becoming messengers for children’s rights and to communicate this with their families and friends.

A participation of 20 Euros (complete form and online payment below) is required from all parents of students in PYP 4/5 and  MYP 1 to contribute towards financing this UNICEF project.

By participating in this project, our students will be supporting the “Frimousses de l’UNICEF”, in order to raise funds that will be donated directly to the “Registrar of Births in the Ivory Coast”.  The right to an identity is fundamental that allows access to other rights: without an identity children lose their rights to healthcare and education. Today in the Ivory Coast, a third of all children do not have a birth certificate, they have no official identity.

Thank you for your help.
